Cleaning rims - it's so easy!

How to best clean your aluminum rims:

The first step is to remove the coarse dirt from the aluminum rims with a high-pressure cleaner. Then spray the rims with rim cleaner. Avoid using acidic cleaning agents because they can attack the material of the aluminum rim. Normal all-purpose cleaners that have a high grease-dissolving power are recommended. Then work on the areas with a cotton cloth or a soft brush. Finally, seal the rim with a special rim sealant - especially if the aluminum rims are to be stored for a longer period of time (e.g. in winter).

With painted rims, it is particularly important to use the right cleaner and gentle materials. In any case, avoid strong chemical and acidic agents as these can attack the paint. Careful handling is extremely important here.

You should not avoid cleaning the inside of the rims either. Burnt-in brake dust usually accumulates in these areas and can penetrate and damage the material. When the rims are mounted, it is difficult to reach these areas, so the tire must be removed so that you can get to them easily. Then place the tire on a soft and gentle surface so that the front of the rims does not get scratched. You can clean the inside in the same way as the outside.

A little home remedy tip from us:

You can also remove particularly stubborn dirt areas with toothpaste. Note that this is a normal paste and does not have any abrasive particles. With an old toothbrush, you can easily work the toothpaste into the brake dust, wait a few minutes and then wipe it off with a cloth. Et voila, shiny rims, as they should be.
