Expert opinion explains

Have you decided to upgrade your car and install stylish rims? But the question usually arises as to whether the selected rims will fit your own vehicle. In addition to the rim configurator, there is also the option of using various reports to find out which rims are approved for installation and do not pose a danger to others on the road.

5 different reports briefly explained:

ECE report

With an ECE or ABE report, the rims can usually be installed quickly and free of charge. The ECE report is not only valid in Germany, but in all EU countries. In all cases, the rim can be installed and driven without registration. So neither a visit to the TÜV nor an addendum to the vehicle documents is necessary.

ABE report without A01

With an ABE report without A01, the rims can also be installed and driven without being entered in the vehicle documents and without a TÜV visit. The report (ABE) should still be carried on every journey.

ABE report with A01

With the A01 requirement, in contrast to the requirement without A01, an installation confirmation is required. This confirms that the rim has been installed correctly and the vehicle's operating license remains valid. An installation confirmation costs between 30 and 50 euros.

Partial report (TGA)

The conversion must be checked by an expert to confirm the specified tire combination and the offset. This is generally done by the TÜV, DEKRA or other testing institutions. The cost of a partial report is around 60-70 euros.

Individual acceptance

This involves checking the rims for each vehicle. This is also done by the TÜV or comparable testing institutions. The proof of strength, the combination of components and the properties are crucial. The implementation or testing starts at 120 euros and can also increase depending on the situation.
